RTM Placed 30th On Triton Global Digital’s Streaming Chart for March 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, 2 Mei 2025 – Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by being featured for the first time in Triton Digital’s Global Streaming Rankers for March 2025. This recognition marks a historic moment for Malaysia and positions RTM among the world’s leading digital audio broadcasters, alongside established names from the United States, Europe, Latin America, and beyond.

The Global Streaming Rankers, published monthly by Triton Digital, is considered a global benchmark for excellence in digital audio content and streaming performance. Inclusion in the ranker reflects not only high listener engagement and consistent content delivery, but also a broadcaster’s ability to adapt and lead in today’s fast-evolving digital landscape.

“This is more than just a win for RTM—it’s a proud achievement for Malaysia and the ASEAN region,” said Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman, Director General of Broadcasting (RTM). “We are honoured to be recognized on this prestigious global platform. It validates the strategic digital transformation journey we have undertaken through RTMKlik and other platforms.”

The latest data reveals that RTM ranks 30th worldwide with an Average Active Sessions (AAS) of 9,630. This indicates that, on average, 9,630 unique listening sessions were active on RTM’s digital streams at any given moment during March 2025.

This puts RTM on par with other leading international broadcasters in terms of online audience engagement. RTMKlik provides 36 radio stations for listeners in total including two streaming radios.

AAS is a key metric in the digital audio landscape, representing the average number of sessions active at any given moment within the reported period. It is calculated by dividing the Total Listening Hours (TLH) by the total number of hours in the reporting period. For RTM in March 2025, the Total Listening Hours (TLH) reached 9,855,025, and the total Session Starts (SS), representing the number of sessions with a minimum duration of one minute, amounted to 9,855,025. RTM’s Average Time Spent Listening (ATSL) per session was 0.54 hours.

Mardhiah Nasir, Executive Director of IPSB Technology, RTM’s long-time technology partner, added:

“RTM’s presence in the Global Rankers puts Malaysia on the global map of digital broadcasting. It also demonstrates how ASEAN broadcasters can lead with quality, consistency, and innovation in audio streaming.”

This milestone is a testament to RTM’s continued relevance and leadership in the digital broadcasting space, and a sign of what’s to come for Southeast Asia’s media landscape.
